What a privilege it is to be part of a commUNITY that has a hunger and thirst to passionately pursue the presence of God. We celebrated the one year anniversary of Burn New Bern (BNB) last month and it has been quite a fruitful year individually and corporately. We pray that the fruit not only impacts our cities but the entire county, region, nation... and beyond!
As I spent time fasting and praying for this next season of BNB, I clearly felt the mandate to "set up camp outside the walls of the city". This seemed odd to me since it's called Burn "New Bern" so I spent an extended amount of time in prayer along with confirmation from others on this. I feel this is a season of preparation to break down physical and spiritual walls to allow for a stronger outpouring when we launch inside the walls of the city. We've spent a season as a multi-site Burn traveling to various venues stirring the fires. Our heart was to eventually land in a neutral location for consistency and unity purposes so this is simply the next step. The Lord has opened the door for me to launch TJ's CAVE at The Oasis in Havelock, NC (read more here) which will allow for Burn New Bern to utilize the neutral facilities for our monthly Burns. We're not sure how long this season in Havelock will be but our intention is for the Burn to settle in New Bern when the timing is right. This is EXCITING!!!
We still want to fan the flames of revival in our local area for those that don't venture out much so in addition to the monthly events at TJ's CAVE, we will also be launching FIREstarters as a branch of BNB. Short version - These will be select traveling teams selected from those regularly serving with BNB and they will do shorter Burns (2-6 hours) and teaching as they travel and impart in our commUNITY. These teams and venues will be prayerfully selected based on resources available.
