Burn New Bern - April 2016 Newsletter

Hello World Changers,

There is a generation rising up that isn't satisfied with the status quo. There is a burning in our hearts that is crying out for more. There is a compelling tug to pursue the presence of God in ways beyond the traditional western culture church models. There is desire to go deeper than ever before as we embrace the historically established foundations as a launching pad for future growth. There is a growing dissatisfaction with complacency that is pushing us to ask more questions and challenge unnecessary cultural traditions that may restrict us from receiving the FULLNESS of what the Holy Spirit has made available to us. There is a movement taking place that is shifting a culture from a place of going through the motions to a place of encounter! THIS IS A GOOD THING!!!

Burn New Bern is just one of many global expressions that are simply going for it corporately as we bring our individual offerings to the Lord out of an overflow from the secret place. We are focused vertically (ministering to the Lord) during our extended times of worship instead of horizontally (ministering to the people) but by default, we get the overflow of encounter as we soak in His presence! The night watch is a special time to draw away from the crowd (as Jesus did) and just spend some quality time with the Father!

We invite and encourage anyone that is interested in serving as part of the Burn ministry team to join us for preBurns on 3rd Mondays each month from 6-8pm at The Hobbit House. Note - we were meeting 2nd Saturdays at TJ's CAVE and this has changed for logistical purposes. See BNB facebook events for details and let us know if you will be joining forces with us for logistical purposes!!! Starting May 2nd, Michael & Sara Thorsby (Burn Directors) will also be dedicating all other Monday nights (6-8pm) for a Burn Community Group for anyone interested. Our heart is to build relationships and future leaders through discipleship. We'll most likely start the evenings with relational ministry while breaking bread and finish with teaching/worship/encounter as the Lord leads.

We STRONGLY encourage our Burn commUNITY to engage with Craven24Seven. Sign up (as an individual or on behalf of a group) for one hour intercession and/or worship time slots. Don't be discouraged if you only see a few people signed up. Every hour that is covered is one step closer to 24/7. We've covered hundreds of hours of prayer over the last year and we are charging for MORE!!! Please don't assume someone else will cover the hours. We need YOU to sign up and take action!!!

If you are interested in serving at Burn New Bern as a worship leader, artist, shift leader, sound tech or intercessor, please see our calendar for availability and contact thorsby@theburn247.com to request a time slot and be considered as part of our ministry team. We're accepting commitments through June. We encourage everyone to prayerfully consider engaging for extended amounts of time... especially during the night watch! Pillows and blankets are welcomed for "sloaking" purposes!!!

P.S.S. Many of our local, regional and national Burn 24-7 family members and extended family will be engaging at TheCall/AzusaNow/AzusaFest. We will have multiple days before and after the stadium gathering with continuous worship and prayer under the "Jesus Tent". Please keep us in your prayers as we travel, pour out and hopefully get filled up. Believers from the East Coast and West Coast collide in this unified effort and we come with great expectation of visitation with extended habitation.
